The Residency

More than just studio space, the STUDIO WEST RESIDENCY programme offers residents informative, supportive and educational mentorship sessions with Founder Caroline Boseley, and industry professionals, to better equip artists to navigate the industry.

The mentorship programme aims to help artists further their careers by providing key practical information often missing from traditional arts education.

The Residency culminates in an Open Studio showcase, providing a platform for artists to present their work to the public and the arts community.

Located in the dynamic and energetic central London neighbourhood of Elephant and Castle, just South of the Thames, we are delighted to collaborate with The Koppel Project to offer studio spaces which support up to ten artists for residencies up to six months.

The Koppel Project and STUDIO WEST RESIDENCY share a common vision of fostering emerging and mid-career artists through accessible resources and comprehensive support.

About Caroline Boseley

Having built a successful career as a commercial solicitor in the City, Founder Caroline Boseley chose to follow her passion for contemporary art, earning a Master’s in Modern and Contemporary Art from Christie’s before specialising in Curating at the prestigious Royal College of Art in London.

In 2021, Caroline launched Studio West, an exhibition space in Notting Hill, W11, quickly earning a stellar reputation for its imaginative, concept-driven group exhibitions, select solo shows, and an annual art prize. Studio West became known for championing some of London’s most exciting emerging talents, supported by a rich, community-focused program of talks and events — all driven by an artist-centred approach.

Motivated by her commitment to nurturing artists, Caroline began mentoring and offering practical, impartial advice to many of those exhibiting at Studio West. It soon became clear this guidance was highly valued and urgently needed by artists, many of whom were struggling to navigate an increasingly competitive and oversaturated gallery landscape, where the interests of commercial spaces often conflicted with artists’ genuine well-being.

In 2024, The STUDIO WEST RESIDENCY was born — a thoughtfully designed initiative providing fully supported studio spaces for emerging artists, enriched by mentoring and a robust program. The STUDIO WEST RESIDENCY extends the ethos Caroline established at Studio West, remaining dedicated to creating a nurturing, artist-first environment where creativity can thrive.
